Questions about the next bank holiday
Is today a bank holiday?
No. Today, Tuesday 20 October, isn’t a bank holiday anywhere in the UK.
Do I get the bank holiday off?
Only if your contract says so. Employers don’t have to give paid leave on bank holidays (GOV.UK), and they can count bank holidays as part of your annual leave (Acas).
What happens if a bank holiday falls on a weekend?
A weekday becomes a bank holiday instead, normally the following Monday. This is called a substitute day (GOV.UK).
